We've got the "BEFORE", but what about the "DURING" and the "AFTER"?

Monday, April 18, 2011
I was reading a post this morning on a forum I watch, and the author asked a great question that got me thinking.

We often find lots of information on how to prepare "BEFORE" an emergency, but what about the "DURING" and the "AFTER"?

Well, the Red Cross has put together some great 1-page instructions/checklists for what to do BEFORE-DURING-AFTER various types of emergencies.

Earthquake
Fire
Flood
Hurricane
Oil Spill
Power Outage
Thunderstorm
Tornado
Tsunami
Wildfire
Winter Storm

These would be great to print off and keep with your 72-hr kits!

FEMA also has similar information available on what to do BEFORE-DURING-AFTER an emergency or disaster. You can find more information here:

FEMA Disaster Information Page

Each page for a specific type of disaster has a menu on the left (or links under the main text) for the "what to do" instructions for before, during and after.
